Jenny Hazelton (she/her)

Jenny is a performer, director, and teacher who works primarily in clown, puppetry, physical and non-text based theatre. She is the founder and artistic director of One North Clown and Creation, and the co-founder of Hoquet/Hiccup. She taught acting, mime and physical theatre creation at Thorneloe University in Sudbury, Ontario for 12 years. She holds an MA in Collaborative Theatre Making with Frantic Assembly. She has trained at École International de Théȃtre Jacques Lecoq in ensemble creation, physical theatre and mime; as well as at the Mime Centrum Berlin, training in Meyerhold's system of Biomechanics. For the last 15 years she has continued her work in Clown and Bouffon with John Turner of Canada's horror clown duo Mump and Smoot at The Clown Farm, formerly the Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance (MCCP), on Manitoulin Island. Jenny has travelled extensively to work with both Canadian and international students in several intercultural theatre exchanges directing and teaching traditional acting technique, mask, mime and clown across Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Taiwan. Jenny is a founding member of Hoquet/Hiccup, Crestfallen Theatre Cabal, and the Encore Theatre Company. She is also a designer, puppeteer, and a theatre technician having worked on various projects with the Sudbury Theatre Centre, Sudbury Symphony, Branch Collective, Carrefour Francophone, CFOF Sudbury, Sudbury Secondary School, Salon du Livre, Musagetes, elleQ Dance Factory, Kemi Projects, and Pat the Dog Theatre Creation.
